Re-opening of Hannaford Centre, Rozelle

The newly extended and refurbished Hannaford Seniors Centre at Rozelle was recently officially re-opened by the Mayor of Leichhardt Mr Jamie Parker. The ceremony was attended by over a hundred guests comprising members of the community, Hannaford Centre members, Council staff and the project team from Imagescape Design Studios. Project Architect Christine Kelly noted ‘it is very pleasing to see the overwhelming support from the community for the new centre’. During the nine month construction period the Hannaford Centre has continued to operate from temporary premises in Balmain. Over this time regular visits for members of the Hannaford Centre to the construction site to inspect progress have been arranged. These inspections provided the opportunity to gain feedback and suggestions for improvement from the members. Where possible these suggestions have been relayed through Council’s Property Manger to the Imagescape Design Studios team for inclusion in the finished building. Such on-going engagement with the members during construction has contributed to the success of the newly re-opened centre and motivated the high level of support for the project. Now back in the newly refurbished and extended Hannaford Centre members are able to access a wider range of services and activities in modern surroundings with the best of facilities.
