Tony Kelly announces approval of Illawarra International Health Precinct

Imagescape Design Studios is pleased to report that last week The Hon Tony Kelly, Minister for Planning announced the approval of the Illawarra International Health Precinct at Huntley in the Illawarra just seven months after the application was lodged with the Department of Planning. The approval covers concept designs prepared by the Imagescape Design Studios specialist Healthcare Studio for the 350 bed private hospital together with conference centre, staff and visitor accommodation and support facilities over the 10 hectare site. Stage 1 of the project comprising day surgery with 6 theatres, recovery and ten overnight beds received project approval with construction expected to commence in the first half of 2010. As reported in the Illawarra Mercury on 11th Feb 2010: “Mr Kelly said stage one construction was expected to start in six months and finish in two years. The first sod will be turned near the northern-most point of the 10.5ha triangle of land in the West Dapto land release area, where 16,000 dwellings are expected to be built over the next three decades. “(Building) will coincide with the development of West Dapto,” Mr Kelly said
